For those who have been reading my latest blogs, you know that things are intense in my life right now. As are for so many of you, I am sure.

We all walk through life, thinking we know what will come next, planning our lives, preparing for the future.

But then life happens and we need to re-group, re-think, re-shape our path.

I already realized a long time ago, that, holding on, too tightly to what I thought was coming, to how I thought my life should be going, only brings heartache, pain and lots and lots of anxiety.

Thanks to my mentors, one of which is Gabby Bernstein*, I learned to have faith, to trust the Universe, to really believe that all will be good.

I now know that all will be okay as long as I trust and believe.

Whenever things get too much, I make my world smaller, I become silent, and I consciously thank the Universe for all that is (still) going well in my life. No matter what is going on, there is always something you can be grateful for.

Being grateful, and realizing that not everything in your life is spiraling out of control, makes you feel calm, makes you feel stronger again. And you attract** what you radiate.

The more you can reside on a higher vibrational frequency, the more ‘good things’ will come your way.

I already mentioned several times, over the years of writing my blog, the scale of emotions by Esther and Jerry Hicks. It’s a good reminder that we can feel a myriad of feelings, and that none of them last forever. It is up to us to steer our thoughts*** so that we can manage our feelings better.

Here’s the emotional guidance scale once again as described by Abraham-Hicks**:

  1. Joy/Appreciation/Empowerment/Freedom/Love
  2. Passion
  3. Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
  4. Positive Expectation/Belief
  5. Optimism
  6. Hopefulness
  7. Contentment
  8. Boredom
  9. Pessimism
  10. Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
  11. Overwhelm
  12. Disappointment
  13. Doubt
  14. Worry
  15. Blame
  16. Discouragement
  17. Anger
  18. Revenge
  19. Hatred/Rage
  20. Jealousy
  21. Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
  22. Fear/Grief/Desperation/Despair/Powerlessness

Being grateful, trusting, becoming calm, … brings you on a higher vibrational level. On that level you will see/experience all the things vibrating on that same level. So, it is crucial to get away from lower vibrational frequencies as you will only encounter there more of what you do not want. Do this step by step. You can’t expect to jump from rage to optimism in one single step. Climb gradually.

That is why creating your own sanctuary, why going to your quiet place, is essential for being able to handle life*** and all the rough patches we all encounter. It’ll give you the strength to climb up the scale of emotions. And even if you fall back down again, you then have the tools to get back up again.

Here is how I create my sanctuary:

I retreat to a silent place.

I breathe.

I meditate.

I am/feel grateful, and name all the things I am grateful for.

I envision what I want to see happening in my life, how I want to feel, and actually feel this feeling.

I sit in silence with my hands on my heart.

I repeat this daily.

By becoming calm, grateful, trusting, …the Universe will back you up and bring more of what you are feeling right now.

Positively creating your path, believing that good things are coming your way, being open to new, unknown adventures, is the best way to move forward.

Staying open for new things is crucial, as here again, holding on too tightly to an exact outcome, will only be an obstacle. That would be trying to control again, and that is not how we will get to a higher vibrational frequency. The Universe gives you more of how you feel, more of how you are behaving. And that gift can come in a way you did not expect.

Once you have found your calm again, there is room to think about how you want to move forward, there is room for new things, for taking action.

And I believe stillness is essential before taking action. Otherwise, you just numb your true feelings by staying busy. And that will take its toll afterwards. Acknowledge your feelings without basking in them nor denying them. Numbing pain, sadness, … is never a solution.

Be very aware of how you handle setbacks in your life, as ‘numbing’ can come in many forms: scrolling endlessly on your phone, eating, drinking, sporting excessively, shopping, working, …. We may not see our behavior as unhealthy, but pushing away what you really feel, always comes back as a boomerang when we least expect it.

Go to your quiet place, acknowledge what is going on and how you feel, breathe, consciously go to a higher vibrational frequency, and only then take action to move forward.

That way, you’ll know what you want, you’ll do things that align with who you really are, that align with what really makes you happy.

That is the only way to walk YOUR path. Otherwise, when you keep avoiding your true feelings, you’ll always feel alone, unhappy, disconnected.

My invitation to you all this week is:

Create your sanctuary.

Go to your quiet place.

Feel what you really feel, instead of numbing, overriding and avoiding your true feelings.

Take action in alignment with the real you.

Create the circumstances to know the real you, and to do what you really need to do, in order to walk your path.
