Everyone knows this saying. And literally, it means that everyone has his/her own opinion of what is beautiful and what not.
But to me, it means more than just deciding what you find beautiful or not.
To me, it means that you decide, how you look at the world, how you want to see things.
This decision will be the difference between feeling happy and content, or feeling miserable and ‘targeted’.
You can choose whether you want to see the beauty and the goodness in people, in your life, or, you can decide that everyone is out to get you, that you never get a break, that other people are always lucky but never you.
Your decision of how you look at the world around you, is crucial for your well-being.
That is one of the most underestimated facts in life. We underestimate what negative thinking does to our health, to our well-being.
And that is why it is high time that we become conscious of how we’re thinking about all that is happening in the world around us.
The thing is, most of the time, people are not even aware of their being so negative, or so untrusting and paranoid.
And even more, the moment you point out to them that there really is more beauty in the world than ugliness, they say that you’re naïve, that you are oblivious of how the real world is, and they even get angry. It’s as if, when people can’t complain about their life, they don’t know how to act anymore.
Isn’t it sad that people don’t know how to look for, and see, beauty anymore?
Therefor my invitation to you all this week is:
Become very aware of how you see and interpret what is happening around you.
Become very aware of how you talk about things and people.
Every time you get upset with something, think about this for a moment:
“What really happened here?”
“Was that really how they meant it?”
“What is fact, and what did I make of it?”
You’ll soon realize that you can easily make different versions of all that is said, all that is done, all that is happening.
The moment you start choosing and ask yourself:
“What else is possible here?”
is the moment that you’ll see your life changing.
You’ll feel a shift in how you feel because you’re not looking to find ugliness anymore.
Is this being a Pollyanna?
Maybe.
But what do you prefer?
Feeling unhappy, and feeling that all and everyone is mean to you?
Or
Feeling blissful for all the beauty in your life, for all the friends in your life?
As long as 2, or more, versions of the ‘truth’ are possible, why not choose the best version of them all?
This is not being naïve.
This is not denying what is happening.
This is not being a doormat and letting everyone walk all over you.
No.
You have your boundaries.
You will still speak up when needed. But you’ll choose to, in a calm and respectful way. Not in a knee-jerk reaction which never leads to anything constructive.
The automatic response to any situation will change from, always feeling attacked, to, looking at the situation from different angles.
That way, you decide what really happened here and you choose to (re-)act in a proper, constructive way.
This change in automatic behavior will mean a world of difference to how you feel and to your whole experience of life.
The more positive you see things, the happier you will be.
The happier you’ll feel, the calmer you will react to everything.
The calmer you’ll react, the less situations you will face where things get heated and where arguments start.
It really is beneficial to all.
First of all, you will feel better.
Which results in sleeping better, in feeling healthier, in feeling more energetic, in enjoying life more.
And because of you feeling better, of you being on this higher vibrational frequency,
people around you will feel that vibe too and will feel this positive power.
You’ll start attracting things that are also vibrating on this frequency and you’ll ‘suddenly’, meet more nice people, more good stuff will happen.
It will feel as if you can be more you, as if you have to pretend less, as if you can stop trying to fit in, because you will be surrounded by people with whom you belong.
And that is what I wish for all of you:
Decide to look for, and see, the goodness in the world.
Train yourself to see ‘what else is possible’.
Do this every single day and you’ll feel this becoming your new MO.
The most beautiful things will start appearing.
You’ll feel less stress, less anxiety, less frustration as you’ll have learned to look for other views on what is happening around you.
