I heard this sentence last week in one of the podcasts on ‘Humanitys Team’ and it really resonated with me. That’s exactly what it is, I thought! I’ve already written a lot of blogs about the fact that ‘it is all up to you*’, and that ‘you can feel good** even if the outer circumstances are challenging’. But for me, this sentence really hit the bull’s-eye.

Feeling good is an inside job.

To be able to do this: ‘feeling good no matter what the outer world is putting on your plate’, you have to learn to start living from within. Your strength will become something that you can tap into, something that is present in your core, in your inner being. Once you know how to get aligned with your Source, you’ll feel able to handle anything that comes your way.

How can you make your ‘Inner Self’ stronger?

How can you build an inner sanctuary, your inner place of comfort, of nourishment, of inspiration, of love?

First of all, find a place where you can become quiet, a place where there is no distraction, a place where you can listen to the silence around you, where you can hear and listen to your own heart.

My quiet place is going into nature, listening to the wind, to the birds, to the sea, letting the sun caress my face, but that place can also be your yoga mat, a quiet corner in your house…

When you are in your quiet place, put your hands on your heart and just sit there for a while, don’t force anything, just keep your hands on your heart and be quiet, breathe slowly and deeply. Do this every day for 5 minutes***. The more you practice this, the more effect it will have. The calmer your body becomes, the calmer your mind will be too. A calmer mind will already make you feel less agitated, more on top of things.

Once you are able to find this calmer place, you can go on building your inner sanctuary, your inner force. Don’t beat yourself up when there are moments where you can’t seem to be as calm as you would wish, just keep breathing, keep putting your hands on your heart and you will always benefit from it.

A next step is, making a list of all you are/were already able to do, a list of all your realizations small and big, of all that is going/went well. Visualize yourself as that beautiful person who is able to do so much. Most of the time we focus on where we fell short, on what did not go well, on things we are afraid of, … but that is not getting us anywhere. Focus on what you already can, and on what you know will be all right.

The more you see yourself as a strong person, as a person who is capable of a lot, as a person who is not helpless, nor alone, the more you will accept, respect and love yourself.

The more you respect and love yourself, the stronger your inner sanctuary will become.

You’ll always be able to tap into that source because no matter what, you know you got it.

The more you live from that inner strength, the more you’ll find yourself handling stuff. That way, you keep on building your inner being, you create a new belief, a belief in that strong, able person you are. Now you finally start believing it, because you see yourself doing things you would never have thought yourself capable of doing.

You can make your inner self even stronger by practicing gratitude. The more you repeat to yourself all the things that you are grateful for in your life, the more you feel good. You now know that you are not alone, that that you are part of the Whole, that we are all One.

Practicing daily helps you feeling good. Practicing daily makes it easier to be content, no matter what.

Repeating affirmations also helps you build this inner strength, wearing crystals or having them in your house also support you energetically.

Meditation is a beautiful way of being one, of feeling this beautiful connectivity with the Universe, of knowing we are all part of the Source.

The more you are able to tap into your Source, the less the outer circumstances will keep you on a low vibrational frequency. That is why ‘Feeling good is an inside job’ is so spot-on.

There are always things, big and small, that will throw you off course, but it is up to you and you alone, whether you will let it keep you there or whether you will rise above it.

I strongly believe that this is something you need to practice on a daily basis. It’s like any other physical training schedule: not training means weakening of the muscles and training daily, keeps you in shape.

You need to train daily, so that you have this inner place ready to tap into whenever you might need some extra strength. And it always comes when you least expect it, so better prepare for it. You’ll feel so much better, so much stronger, so much calmer, so much more connected. And even if there is no big issue going on in your life right now, you’ll always feel so much better living from within.
