I once heard someone say this, and I thought, yes, I completely agree.
If you’re down, stop digging deeper.
Look up, instead of down.
Look at how you want to feel, instead of exploring all this negativity deeper and deeper. You’re still wallowing in this darkness when you’re looking down. This won’t cheer you up, because you’ll still be on that lowest vibrational* frequency.
I know people often want to know, exactly where their negativity originated. But why? Honestly, will that make a lot of difference?
People like to understand, where certain feelings come from.
I get that, but does that change the outcome?
I believe that, in the first place, you need to learn how to turn those feelings, that negativity, around into first neutral, and then later on, into positive feelings.
I am not sure that, knowing exactly where things come from, is always necessary. If you know, okay, maybe it will help you in your change to feel better, but I am not convinced.
What if you never find out what caused this ‘feeling down’, does this mean you’ll never be able to feel good?
No, I don’t believe this. I am convinced that, deciding you want to feel better, taking steps towards changing your behavior, are the most important tools you can use for turning negativity into positivity. Willing to change and taking action.
I have already talked in previous articles, about the scale of emotions, where Esther and Jerry Hicks classify emotions according to their vibrational frequencies. I find this a very helpful tool in understanding how you can evolve from, really low vibrational feelings to feeling better, and to even feel great again.
Here’s the emotional guidance scale as described by Abraham-Hicks:
- Joy/Appreciation/Empowerment/Freedom/Love
- Passion
- Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
- Positive Expectation/Belief
- Optimism
- Hopefulness
- Contentment
- Boredom
- Pessimism
- Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
- Overwhelm (feeling overwhelmed)
- Disappointment
- Doubt
- Worry
- Blame
- Discouragement
- Anger
- Revenge
- Hatred/Rage
- Jealousy
- Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
- Fear/Grief/Desperation/Despair/Powerlessness
Gabby Bernstein** says:
The closer we are to joy,
the more easily we attract what we want.
When you’re in a negative place, high-vibe thoughts won’t resonate. They’ll just feel false. So instead of trying to leap, we have to gently guide ourselves back to joy by taking one small step at a time.
And that is the work you need to do whenever you want to step away from feeling down, from feeling angry, from feeling anxious, ….
You radiate the vibration of the feeling you are feeling, and you attract more of what vibrates on that frequency. So, in order to feel better, you have to do something that makes you feel a little better. Once you are on that next step on the scale, you’ll feel a little different, a little better, and you radiate this new energy. Hence you attract things that also vibrate on that new frequency. And that’s how you can climb step by step out of your ‘feeling down’.
That’s a process, you can’t jump from feeling powerless to feeling great joy in one leap. You have to go step by step. You have to move towards your goal.
Even if you slip along the road, do not worry, you just pick up from where you slipped, and climb back up again.
Do we need to feel happy and upbeat all the time? No, absolutely not. We are only human. Feeling off once in a while, having a bad day once in a while, is okay. You are allowed to feel that way too. But always keep in mind how you want to feel. Don’t linger in that negativity.
Acknowledge the feeling, feel the feeling, but then, take a deep breath and say, okay, now I move on, this is not where I want to stay.
No matter where it came from, decide it’s not how you want to feel.
Take action, even if it’s only a tiny little step, but take it.
Do things that give you joy.
Be grateful.
Help other people.
Celebrate every step you move up on the scale.
It sounds simple, but I know it’s not always easy to do. But again, it’s up to you: decide HOW you want to feel and do the work.
