{"id":7248,"date":"2026-05-08T08:37:48","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T06:37:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/start-steadying-yourself-with-simple-rituals\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T08:37:48","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T06:37:48","slug":"start-steadying-yourself-with-simple-rituals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/fr\/start-steadying-yourself-with-simple-rituals\/","title":{"rendered":"Start steadying yourself with simple rituals."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6968 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/eenvoud-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I read this statement the other day, written by Marc and Angel Chernoff* and I totally relate to this.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Whenever I feel overwhelmed, whenever emotions, or outer circumstances, threaten to take over, <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">I make my world smaller, I return to simple rituals.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For example.<\/p>\n<p>When you wake up, and you feel as if all is too heavy to carry, and you think you\u2019ll never make it through the day, start by taking a deep breath.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Don\u2019t look too far<\/span> into the day.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Stretch a few times. Breathe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Just get out of bed<\/span>, without thinking about what is to come.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Go and take your shower<\/span>, enjoy the warm water running down your body.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t think, <span style=\"color: #993300;\">just feel the sensation of soap and water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The simple ritual of showering will already calm down your mind. Don\u2019t let other thoughts take over.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Just be in the moment.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">A calmer mind will already make you feel a bit stronger.<\/span><\/strong> You will feel more in control of your emotions, of what lies ahead.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Engaging in those little, simple things, will make the heavy stuff take a back seat. It\u2019s still there, but it will feel less devastating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">The more you feel overwhelmed<\/span><\/strong>, the more you need to <strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">focus on every little ritual<\/span> <\/strong>in your day. This will help you steady yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Be, live every moment, consciously.<\/p>\n<p>This will prevent you from spinning out of control, from getting lost in those tsunami-like, crushing, all-consuming, disaster thoughts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Focus on the thing you\u2019re doing right now.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make sure you make every moment count.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">When you are having a coffee<\/span>, taste your coffee, enjoy the warm liquid, <span style=\"color: #993300;\">think of nothing else but your coffee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Driving<\/span> to work, same thing. <span style=\"color: #993300;\">Make it a pleasant journey<\/span>. No matter what. Listen to some beautiful music, listen to a nice audiobook, or let silence wash over you. Just drive, and relax, no fretting.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">When you do all those uplifting things consciously,<\/span> <\/strong>without already worrying about the next meeting to come, without already getting irritated by a colleague that you haven\u2019t even seen yet today, <strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">you are in a good place to start your day.<\/span><\/strong> No old emotions present, no fretting about things that haven\u2019t even happened yet, and are very likely to never happen at all. Yes, we do worry and worry and worry, and 95% of all the things we worried about, NEVER actually happen\u2026\u2026!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">When you are vibrating on that frequency of an open mind, of possibilities, of solutions, \u2026 all the things that will come your way today, will feel different to you.<\/span><\/strong> They will feel less dramatic, less problematic because you engage with them from a different place.<\/p>\n<p>And that will help with how you feel about your day.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">The more you can <strong>calm your mind,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">the more you can <strong>approach all situations from a place of solutions,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">the more you are <strong>looking at other people as fellow human being<\/strong>s, instead of adversaries, \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>the easier your day will feel<\/strong>, even though you will face the same problems as any other day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The important thing is to be able to steady your mind, to be able to calm your mind, your emotions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">This you can do<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">by living very <strong>consciously,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">by living <strong>in the moment,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">by <strong>not thinking too far ahead,<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">by <strong>not wanting<\/strong> to be able to solve all matters in 1 day,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">by focusing on <strong>one task<\/strong> at a time,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">by having your <strong>simple rituals<\/strong> every day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Not only in the morning but throughout the whole day.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Enjoy your lunch<\/span><\/strong>, take a little time to breathe, have some silence.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Take a few short breaks<\/span><\/strong>, even if it\u2019s only a minute to focus on your breathing, or to hop outside for a sec.<\/p>\n<p>When you come home <strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">at night, let go of the day.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow is another day, time enough to worry then, there is absolutely no use for worrying about it all night. I love how Courtney Carver describes worrying:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u201cWorrying is like sitting in a rocking chair,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">you keep moving back and forth<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">but it gets you nowhere.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Have you <strong>evening ritual.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Relax.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">No more screen time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Write<\/strong> in your gratitude diary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Do some <strong>breathing exercises.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Meditate.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Pray.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Make sure your bedroom is <strong>free from<\/strong> all kinds of <strong>clutter<\/strong>**, make sure you can breathe in the <strong>fresh night air.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Go to <strong>sleep.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Whenever thoughts are entering your mind, acknowledge them, but then say:<\/span> I am <span style=\"color: #993300;\">not going to engage<\/span> in them right now, there is nothing I can do right now. All I have to focus on right now, is to <span style=\"color: #993300;\">relax<\/span> and to <span style=\"color: #993300;\">sleep<\/span>. Tomorrow is another day.<\/p>\n<p>The more you practice this, the better you\u2019ll get at it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Remember to make your world small.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Focus on little things, on the things you are doing right now.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Be completely present.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t let your mind go all over the place, that will solve nothing.
