In my opinion, this always has an artificial ring to it\u2026<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s as if you HAVE to make changes, as if you HAVE to follow the trends of the New Year and make the changes OTHER people want to make in THEIR lives.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why, by the time we\u2019re halfway in the month of January, 80% of every vow, promise that has been made at the beginning of the New Year, has already been dropped into the waste bin.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Don\u2019t follow a trend because it\u2019s \u2018in\u2019.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Don\u2019t make changes because of other people\u2019s expectations.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Just don\u2019t. It\u2019s a waste of time an energy and will only lead to frustration and disappointment, because you won\u2019t follow it through.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Just ask yourself:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">\u201cIs there something I am not completely happy about in my life?\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">\u201cIs there something that would be wonderful to accomplish in my life?\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">\u201cIs there something worth changing because I BELIEVE it would really make my life better?\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If the answer is <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">no<\/span><\/strong>, then <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">don\u2019t make any changes<\/span><\/strong>. Being okay shouldn\u2019t be any taboo, it\u2019s not impossible that you are already doing great and that, by just keeping up what you\u2019re already doing, <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">you are doing just fine!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If, on the other hand, the answer is<strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"> yes<\/span><\/strong>, then you have to <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">start asking yourself<\/span><\/strong> more questions concerning the topic that you\u2019re not happy about right now and where you want to see changes being made.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong>Why do you need to ask more questions?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Well, you have to get to the bottom of it in order to keep up the courage to go through with the changes in moments where you risk slipping up or giving up.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1133 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/know-your-why-237x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"433\" height=\"548\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Very often, <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">we think we know why<\/span><\/strong> we want to make a certain change in our life and still, we end up doing exactly the same as we did before\u2026 how is that possible? Because you didn\u2019t go as far as<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">finding your REAL reason, <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">your REAL motivation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For instance: I once had a coachee, and the doctor strongly advised her to lose weight. She has a heart condition, and she also is a cancer survivor. But time after time, she relapsed in eating cookies and cakes and she never managed to keep her weight loss. You see, the reason to start a diet, \u201cbecause the doctor said so\u201d, \u201cbecause she knew it was better for her health\u201d, \u2026wasn\u2019t good enough. She knew with her mind why she needed to lose weight but her heart was not in it. So, we started looking deeper and I kept asking <strong>why<\/strong>\u00a0 she wanted to lose weight.<strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"> I wanted her to find HER real reason, HER motivation to keep up the healthy eating. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2620 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/why-1780726_1280-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"451\" height=\"254\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why<\/strong> do you start this diet?<\/em> Her answer \u201cbecause the doctor said I need to lose weight\u201d was not good enough, she relapsed in eating junk.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why <\/strong>do you want to lose weight?<\/em> Because I\u2019ll feel better when I lose weight. Okay, didn\u2019t last either because actually, she felt \u2018okay enough\u2019 in her opinion.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why<\/strong> would feeling better when you\u2019re losing weight, make your life better?<\/em> Because when I\u2019ll lose weight, I\u2019ll be in better shape, I won\u2019t be as easily out of breath. Okay, didn\u2019t last, she isn\u2019t the sporty type.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why <\/strong>could it important to be less out of breath, to be in better shape?<\/em> Then I\u2019ll be able to do more things, because I would be in better shape and maybe I\u2019ll live longer. Didn\u2019t last. She was already doing a lot of things and wasn&rsquo;t counting the years she had left.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why<\/strong> would you want to live longer?<\/em> <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">BINGO!!!<\/span><\/strong> Because then I\u2019ll be able to see my grandchildren grow up! And THAT was for her the REAL motivation for going on a diet. That was when she finally stuck to her diet. She had found HER why and when the cookies and the cake were calling her name, she pictured herself and her grandchildren playing and that was for her reason enough to keep away from the unhealthy stuff. She wanted to be around as long as possible to spend as much time with her grandchildren as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">This is the reason why I always say:<\/span><\/strong> don\u2019t make a promise to yourself, or to other people, just because it\u2019s the time of year for making vows and promises to make changes, or because somebody says &lsquo;you have to do this&rsquo;. No, <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">make a vow to make a change in your life where it really matters to you, where you have a why that is strong enough to lead you through the difficult parts of the journey.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1492 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/change-is-a-process-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"452\" height=\"339\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Change is a journey, it\u2019s not a straight line, it\u2019s not an easy path. Your subconscious mind is programmed to do things the way you always did them. To be able to act differently, you need to set your conscious mind to work. Knowing that 93% of all your actions are directed by your subconscious mind and only 7% by your conscious mind, you\u2019ll understand that it takes a real, and continuous effort to have a permanent change in your behavior.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><em>Every time<\/em><\/span><\/strong> you are in the situation where you need this different behavior, you have to <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><em>be conscious and recognize<\/em><\/span><\/strong> that you would automatically act in a certain (your old) way, then you have to (again consciously) <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><em>stop yourself<\/em><\/span><\/strong>, and <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><em>remember your \u2018why\u2019.<\/em><\/span><\/strong> Now <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><em>you make the decision to act<\/em> <\/span><\/strong>in the way you want to act from now on. Keep this up and after time, at least 60 to 90 days, <strong>your mind will start recognizing the situation and your new \u2018automatic\u2019 response will be the one you have been training consciously for in the past months.<\/strong> Because repetition is what brings a behavior, a thought, from the conscious to the subconscious mind. And here is where your \u2018automatic\u2019 responses come from. It becomes easier and easier but it hardly ever is something you\u2019ll never have to pay any attention to anymore. Especially when you\u2019re feeling a bit down, or tired, a little overwhelmed or emotionally vulnerable, that is when it\u2019s important to be vigilant because that is where your old self could try to take over again.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1341 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/old-habits-die-hard-i-guess-if-you-dont-kick-them-they-kick-you-quote-1-233x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"446\" height=\"574\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Always remember &lsquo;your why&rsquo;<\/span><\/strong> AND before you start making any changes, <strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">make sure &lsquo;your why&rsquo; so strong, it can weather any storm!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I wish you, not only a wonderful, peaceful, wholesome, loving year, but also the courage, the creativity, the perseverance to ask yourself \u201cwhy?\u201d as many times as necessary until you find YOUR true reason for making any change in your life. Whether it\u2019s about your health, your finances, your relations, your work, your hobbies, your faith, \u2026.it always boils down to finding a strong enough reason to keep up the -often hard- work to make your dreams come true, to make the change you want, to create your \u2018new\u2019 you, your new reality.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-741 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/what-if-I-fall.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"457\" height=\"309\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Once your why is so strong, you\u2019ll feel it\u2019s easier and easier to keep up this new way of being, you\u2019ll feel you\u2019re becoming more and more who you really are, who you are meant to be here in this life, who you are most happy being.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">As a bonus<\/span><\/strong> of living this authentic you, after a while, <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">you\u2019ll see more and more clearly on ALL levels in your life:<\/span><\/strong> what you really want, what you really stand for. All the clutter, all the baggage, all the stuff that takes away your energy, that kept you from living your true SELF, will disappear. You\u2019ll be able to let go of so much stuff, things, thoughts, emotions, \u2026, you\u2019ll feel so much lighter, so much more fulfilled, so much happier.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-494\" src=\"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/happy-fit-people-300x144.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"289\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is what I wish for all of you from the bottom of my heart.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you all for reading me, following me, subscribing to my email list, clapping for my articles on Medium.
