{"id":6945,"date":"2025-03-11T10:13:01","date_gmt":"2025-03-11T09:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/silence-the-silent-healer\/"},"modified":"2025-03-11T10:13:01","modified_gmt":"2025-03-11T09:13:01","slug":"silence-the-silent-healer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/en\/silence-the-silent-healer\/","title":{"rendered":"Silence, the Silent Healer."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6937 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lifecoachwomen.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/feather-4412843_1280-300x206.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"516\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Where do we still find absolute silence?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">When do we, consciously, seek silence?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Why are we so afraid of silence, of being confronted with ourselves?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Everywhere around us, there is always noise, there is always auditive, and other, input.<\/p>\n<p>And even when there is silence, most of us put on some music, talk, listen to podcasts, books, radio, television, \u2026.<\/p>\n<p>And don\u2019t get me wrong:<\/p>\n<p>I do like conversations, but not all the time.<\/p>\n<p>I do like my apps with books, podcasts, courses, \u2026 but not all the time.<\/p>\n<p>I do like some level of input, but I choose it very consciously.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">It has become so normal to always have some kind of background noise, that most of us feel a bit awkward when there is absolute silence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">And yet, silence is so peaceful, so healing, so informative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">My invitation to you all is:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Re-discover silence.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Learn how to embrace silence.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Listen to the silence, and hear what is telling you.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The more you get comfortable with being in silence, the more you will seek it, and the more you will learn from it.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s so relaxing, so refreshing, so comforting, so rejuvenating.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019 re not used to sit in silence, I would recommend to first go out in nature to find silence. You will hear birds, insects, the wind, &#8230; and that is a good way of learning to appreciate silence as it\u2019s not the same as human or mechanical noise.<\/p>\n<p>Learn to cherish it.<\/p>\n<p>Once you are comfortable in nature, you can <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">practice silence<\/span><\/strong> at home.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Just be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Breathe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Let go of all obsessive thoughts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Don\u2019t do anything.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Listen to what comes up after a while.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">What is your body telling you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">What is your heart telling you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">learn how to \u2018hear\u2019 what your heart is telling you<\/span><\/strong>, do this very easy practice:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">put your hands on your heart while sitting in silence, and just be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Give yourself time to get comfortable with this new way of relaxing, of resting and healing.<\/p>\n<p>The more you practice this, the more you will hear what your body needs, what your heart is longing for.<\/p>\n<p>This practice is a good start to not only <span style=\"color: #008000;\">get healthier<\/span> because you\u2019ll be more relaxed, sleep better, and all related issues will disappear, but <span style=\"color: #008000;\">also<\/span> to <span style=\"color: #008000;\">realize what you still want in your life, in your home, in your agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">It\u2019s the perfect way to start simplifying your life, <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">and to start listening to your soul.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have been writing* about simplifying for years now, and <span style=\"color: #008000;\">it\u2019s<\/span> not only about getting your house as minimalistic as possible, but <span style=\"color: #008000;\">about creating <em>your<\/em> life, a life <em>you <\/em>feel good about, a life that makes <em>you<\/em> healthy, the life <em>you <\/em>need, to be able to be who you really are.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A life full of noise, full of stuff, full of to-do\u2019s, full of trying to fit in, \u2026 only creates disease, unhappiness. It\u2019s just all too much, it\u2019s overwhelming and it depletes us. Exhaustion makes us literally sick.<\/p>\n<p>As my mentor Courtney Carver writes about in her latest book**, be gentle towards yourself, take it slow, rest, listen to your body.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Learning to appreciate silence, <\/span><\/p>\n<p>becoming comfortable with hearing your own thoughts,<\/p>\n<p>actually feeling what it is you really need,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">is a process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you have never appreciated silence, if you are someone who always needs music, talking, something to overrule your thoughts\u2026 be gentle with yourself. It\u2019s not something you\u2019ll be able to do immediately.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">You\u2019ll have to get over the fear of being with only yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ease into it.<\/p>\n<p>Just try it.<\/p>\n<p>Build up slowly your amount of silent time.<\/p>\n<p>Relax and learn to feel the benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Silence allows us to fully relax,<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">silence allows us to have the rest we need to heal, to rejuvenate.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stop the constant input, auditive, visual, \u2026 embrace complete silence and feel your body and mind sighing in relief.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Feel yourself coming home to you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Silence at last, peace at last.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">You\u2019ll feel more energized than ever, <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">and you\u2019ll be able to fully engage in whatever it is you choose to give your full attention to.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thank you all for reading me, and for supporting me on Medium!
