Staying on a low vibrational frequency, a frequency of hopelessness, of despair, of seeing no way out, will never bring you to a positive place. And that is where we ultimately all want to be, no matter where we are in life.

How exactly this positive place looks like, is not the most important thing, it’s being in this positive mindset that will determine what you do, what you think and how you feel. And this will define how your life will look like.

I know, people sometimes call me a Pollyanna, but what do you prefer?

Being optimistic, seeing something good in every situation,

Or

Seeing problems everywhere, always thinking of the worst possible outcome?

Well, I definitely choose for the first option, let me be a Pollyanna then. But sometimes people resist to having positive people around them because that presents to them: solutions, possibilities and of course nothing changes without effort and they are not always willing to put in the effort. They are annoyed, angry even and then of course I get presented horrible situations and then they ask me: you can’t possibly see ANY good here, can you?

I agree, sometimes we don’t see it right away, but there always is a positive side and a negative side in every matter. That’s one of nature’s laws*, everything has a positive and a negative pole. Even if we can’t see it, it’s there in the bigger picture of Life. For example:

Illness can make you become more aware of how precious health is, and maybe you start taking better care of yourself.

War can make people realize we are all humans and no human being should ever be forced to kill another human being. It can make us feel more connected even though it may not seem so on first impression.

Losing a dear one, can make us become more conscious about how quickly life goes by and may make us start living in a more grateful appreciation of all we have.

Huge events can awaken a side of us we never knew we had in us. We can become strong people where before, we never thought we had that force in us.

And here we are of course only talking about the big issues in life.

But we can implement this philosophy in all aspects of life.

Whenever we encounter a setback in life, we have 2 choices:

let us be defined by the things we lose

or

we can decide to see what is still possible.

You have to decide whether you will get bitter or better because of the setbacks you encounter in life.

And no, looking for and seeing good in every situation is not ‘denial’.

I know there is the process of grief** described by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross: DABAD: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and finally, and hopefully, Acceptance. It is only natural that we go through this when we suffer great loss, but there is a difference between staying stuck in grief and going through the process to come out stronger in the end.

That is why I say: Never lose hope.

You may not see how things will turn out eventually, but there always is something positive at the other side of grief: how this will look, no one knows when the process starts. But as long as you focus on moving forward, on the things that are still possible, you will encounter beauty on your path. That is how the Law of Attraction*** works: you attract what vibrates on the same frequency as you do.

My invitation to you is: whenever you encounter a setback: big or small, be conscious about the fact that you have to make a choice how you will deal with it.

Even if you don’t know the answers (yet), decide that you want to move forward, and to be able to move forward, you have to make sure you are ‘charged’ with positive energy. As they say:

“You can’t pour from an empty cup”

Take good care of yourself so that you are ready to tackle anything that comes along. That doesn’t mean you can’t stumble and maybe even fall down now and then. It just means that you need to have the force to get back up again. That force will be in you when you create a life in which you ‘recharge’ your batteries on a regular basis.

As Anita Moorjani ****explains: list things that make your heart expand, things that bring a little (or a lot) joy to you, and do these things. It’s these things that will charge you and bring you to a better frequency. Even if all falls apart, make sure you stay as strong as possible. That will bring you on the necessary frequency to see solutions. These things can be as small as making yourself a nice cup of tea, taking a walk in your garden and turning your face towards the sun, wearing your favorite sweater, listening to an upbeat song, even sing along if you feel up to it. No matter what it is. Do things that lift you up and you’ll notice how this will help you cope with the situation. Make a list, write down all the things you like doing and whenever you need it, you can turn to that list and it will help conquer whatever is threatening to drag you down. This list may hold things like:

Read a good book

Light a scented candle

Take a nice hot bath or shower, or cold one for that matter 🙂

Cook something, bake some delicious things

Go for a walk

Call a friend, one you know will lift you up (don’t call anyone who only sees problems!)

Cuddle with your pets

Play a game with your children

Paint

Go to the library

Go for a coffee

Visit a museum

Go to the movies

Light the open fire and enjoy the smell of wood burning

Go for a run

Do some work outs

Breathe

Meditate

….

Create your own personal list as a go-to-place whenever you need it. Then read it, believe you can do it and DO it!! You’ll feel the healing effect of even the littlest things on your list.

Never lose hope, always keep faith!

Yes You Can!!

Thank you all for reading me and for supporting me on Medium!
